The DWST program is the first course in Indian Subcontinent of its type, which is aimed at partially meeting the skilled manpower requirements in this ever growing field. There are not many known entry level standards in this industry. Taking a lead, being the pioneers in this field, the Norwegian Government has set standards for training of personnel working on Drilling units and has introduced the certification course which is now a recognized standard world-wide. Eligibility:- Male candidates born before 1 March 1990 are eligible to apply for admission in 2009. The date of birth as recorded on the applicant’s School Leaving Certificate will be considered for this purpose. Candidates must have successfully completed the Secondary Examination (Class X) and (10 + 2) Science or Diploma in Engineering & above or candidates who have discontinued BE/BTech Courses midway (must have completed at least one year) or Science Graduates with good technical aptitude are eligible to apply for the DWST Level 1 course. Candidates must meet the minimum physical fitness and medical standards set by NCT-TMI. Colour blindness and persons with congenital diseases are not eligible. It is important to note that any deficiency in this respect would disqualify a candidate from a career in the Drilling Industry subsequently also. Fees:- Rs. 3,10,000/-

The minimum eligibility for courses in nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness. Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.
