Sir J J Institute of Applied Art (JJIAA) Courses Offered

Duration:- 3 years

Eligibility:-

i) Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination held at the end of XII Standard conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or an Examination of another University or Board recognized as equivalent there to with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.

(45% marks in the case of Backward Class candidate from Maharashtra State only.)

ii) Must have passed Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination of Directorate of Art, Maharashtra State.

(Except the candidates coming from the states other than Maharashtra and are eligible for Government of India reserve seats, so also students coming from other countries are exempted from passing the Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination and allowed to appear for Entrance Test for Applied Art.)

iii) Should pass an Entrance Aptitude Test conducted by the Institute and prescribed by the University of Mumbai.

Eligibility:-

No educational qualification is prescribed in respect of candidates seeking admission to the Apprentice Training Course. However candidates having qualification of S.S.C. with Art or S.S.C. and Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination or having the Apprentice Training Certificate from the employer (Studios) will be given preference.

Candidates seeking admission for these courses are selected after an Entrance Test and an Interview.

Interior Decoration Design

Techniques: Draughtsmanship, Plan, Elevation, Section, Major Drawing, Perspective, Sciography, Rendering in Colour, Working Drawings.

Theory: Evolution of Design, Design through the ages from the primitive to renaissance days. Fundamentals of Design, Materials and Methods of Manufacture.

Practical: Problems consisting of interior schemes of homes, offices, shops, window display etc. Furniture design with application of theory and techniques.

Photography

Historical introduction of Photography, The Camera - types and uses - the accessories. The lens and the shutter. Practical techniques of focussing and making a successful exposure. Photographic emulsion - different kinds and their specialities. Chemicals used in Photography. Developing the negative - different methods and controls. Making a contact print. Making an enlargement. The Darkroom and its equipments. Requirement of a good enlarger. Lens facts - the defects and their remedies. Studio lighting - lighting for portraiture and table top, still life and special effects. Intensification, Reduction and Toning- methods and materials. Composition - principle and importance. Flash equipments and synchronization. Filters - Various types and their uses. Light of colour - introduction to the major colour systems.

Duration:- 2 years

Eligibility:-

i) Must have passed the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree Examination in the respective branch of this University or an examination of another University recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.

ii) The admission to the course will be made purely on the merits of candidates at the qualifying examinations and on the performance of the candidate in an interview.
