Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute was established in 1955 by Dr. Shivram and Dr. Mekhri in what was then the fort police station ground. The college was initially run by the Mysore Medical Education Society and was later handed over to the Government of Karnataka

An all India quota of 50% is filled up by All India entrance examination.

Library is fully loaded with rich collection of books and journals which also includes online database well connected with servers. • Along with the spacious library students are also offered computer centre for their projects and practice. Whole computer centre is centralized and connected with internet.
